Did you ever feel that solving a Sudoku on a computer just isn't the same as solving it with pencil and paper? This is the reason why thumbSudoku has a clear focus on providing an intuitive and innovative user interface, which makes entering…..

Great controls, good interface, slightly confusing directions
This has my favorite input method for and Sudoku game so far. It takes a little getting used to, but it's faster than any other I've seen (you put your finger on the cell and then drag out a number of rings equal to the digit you want to enter - then add a quick tap if you want it to just be a note). The alternate "number across the top" input mode is well done, too.
My only gripe about the controls is I wish there was an easy "undo" if you missed the cell you were trying to input and messed up an adjacent cell you had already entered a number into.
The interface is pretty and quick (both to play and to start). I love the way the numbers rotate but stay in place when the device goes from portrait to landscape. It took a few games for my brain to ignore the numbers across the top and bottom, but now I don't even notice they're there unless I want to use them for input.
One warning, though - the directions can be a little confusing (it took me a while to figure out the dragging mode) - I think they were originally in German, and the translation could have been better. You'll figure it out quick, though - and it's definitely worth it.
In a word: Perfect
By far the best client; data entry and number choice filtering, as well as scanning make difficult Sudokus great to play, as does adriane's thread which lets you revert to a previous position if you're entering a number you're not sure of.
My only gripe is that very few puzzles are included, and no new ones canbe entered.
one of the best sudoku apps out there

After testing about a dozen others I find thumbSudoku one of the best Sudoku apps so far. The strongest point is for data entry - an igenious system taken full advantage of touchscreen technology. Also the scanning feature is really nice. This app would be perfect, if new puzzles could be entered by the player (or at least more puzzles came with it. I guess future updates will take care of this.
